I was still relatively new to the world of freelance editorial photography when a major New York magazine called in my book. I couldn’t believe my luck!

There was just one problem: I didn’t have a book. I hadn’t assembled a physical portfolio, thinking it unnecessary in the digital era, and I was out of the country when the call came. So… could they just look at my website?

The editor explained that she preferred taking bound portfolios into meetings so that everyone could pass them around and assess the work firsthand.
